Like if you are hosting your website on SiteGround or Bluehost then you need to host your domain on Namecheap.
This article is for those who have a registered their domain name and hosting with Namecheap and also for those who have registered their domain name with Namecheap and hosted their website with another hosting provider.
How To Point Namecheap Domain Name To Web Hosting
1> If you have a hosting plan with Namecheap
To pointing your Namecheap domain name to a Namecheap web hosting you need to point the domain name to a Namecheap web hosting nameservers. You can easily able to change the nameserver by following below steps.
- First you need to sign into your Namecheap account, the Sign In option is available at the top of the page.
- Once you will sign into your Namecheap account you need to select the Domain List from the left sidebar and click the Manage button next to your domain in the list.
- After click on the Manage button you can see the Nameservers section and select Namecheap Web Hosting DNS from the drop-down menu. After that, use the checkmark icon to save changes:
Once you will change the nameservers, it may take about 24-48 hours for your domain to propagate to be resolving properly all over the world.
Note: The Nameserver you have changed if it is not the main domain of your hosting plan, then you also need to add your domain as Addon to your cPanel You can find a tutorial for that here.
In case you purchased a Reseller hosting plan with us, the private or reseller nameservers that you need to use will be specified in the Hosting Welcome email.
2> If you have a hosting plan with other Hosting Provider
To Point Namecheap Domain Name To Bluehost, Siteground, Hostgator or any other Web Hosting provider via nameservers then you need the nameserver which you have received from your hosting provider. you need to set these nameservers as Custom DNS for your domain. You can do that in the following way:
Once you signing into your account, select the Domain List from the left sidebar and click the Manage button next to your domain in the list. Then find the Nameservers section and select Custom DNS from the drop-down menu.
After selecting the Custom DNS, enter your hosting nameservers one by one in each line. Once you add the nameservers, click on the green checkmark to save changes.
After adding the Nameserver it may take around 24-48 hours for your domain to propagate to be resolving properly all over the world.
